About the Program

The Small Town Writers’ Room is a casual, safe, inclusive, and collaborative space supporting the next generation of comedy writers outside of traditional entertainment hubs.

The objective of the Writers’ Room is to help emerging writers deepen their love for all things comedy and writing in a safe, supportive, and accessible way. And the best part? It’s completely free!

Throughout time in the writers’ room, participants will:

  • Enhance writing skills

  • Better develop their comedic voice

  • Learn the ins-and-outs of personal branding

  • Learn how to proactively identify opportunities

  • Explore the “business” side of comedy writing

  • Create tangible portfolio pieces

  • And more!

Program Details

The program is free, 100% virtual, and intended for emerging/new writers. The program is led by Denver-based comedian and writer, Jon Savitt. With more than a decade of professional comedic writing experience, Savitt has been featured in places like The Washington Post, Funny or Die, College Humor, TIME, NBC News, MTV, and more. He’s written on numerous shows, has collaborated with everyone from popular athletes to US Presidents, and has performed at comedy festivals across the country.

Currently, the Writers’ Room meets virtually via Zoom.
